Union County Public Library, Main.

We have asked. They have not answered yet. Please do not take donations there until this page says otherwise.

Where this stands

Nothing is agreed.

We approached the main branch about holding a small donation box for garden supplies. That is the whole of it: no produce, no volunteers on site, no events, and nothing that would put any work on library staff beyond letting a box sit somewhere.

Until they say yes, they are not a partner and we will not describe them as one. This page is here so the conversation is visible rather than implied.

If you want to donate supplies today, we have one confirmed drop-off point in Monroe.

What we asked for

A box, and about a square foot of floor.

  • One donation box

Seeds, hand tools, gloves, and clean packing materials. Nothing perishable and nothing valuable.

  • Collected weekly

We come and empty it. Staff are never asked to sort, store, or handle anything.

  • No cost, no commitment

If it becomes a nuisance, it goes. We would rather lose the box than be a problem for a library.

Why a library

It is where our neighbours already are.

A library is the one building in a county that everybody uses and nobody has to pay to enter. If we are asking people to donate a packet of seeds, that is where the packet of seeds should be able to go.
