Everything we grow starts as something somebody donated. Here is what we need, where to bring it, and why we cannot take cash.
Why supplies only
We have no bank account, and that is on purpose.
Homegrown Hearts is a student-led initiative run by two high school students. It is not incorporated, it has no tax-exempt status, and it has no treasurer. Taking money without those things would be a real legal problem and a real safeguarding one.
So the answer to "can I send you $20" is a list of things $20 buys. That list is below, and it is genuinely more useful to us — we know exactly what the beds need this month.

What we need
The current list.
Seeds and seedlings, hand tools, gloves, a trellis, clean paper bags, and unused cardboard boxes. The full list, with quantities, lives on the homepage and is updated as the season moves.
How to give
Three steps. The first one is just an email.

Name the crop
Match each vegetable to its name. Everything here is growing in our beds.
Email us first
Tell us what you have. We will confirm we can use it and agree a time. This one step prevents almost every wasted trip.
Bring it to a drop-off point
We have one confirmed location in Monroe, with more being arranged. Each one has a map.
It goes in the ground
Seeds and plants go into the beds on the next planting day. Tools and bags go straight into use on the next packing morning.
For businesses
If you run a garden center or a hardware store.
A standing arrangement is worth more to us than a one-off box. If you can set aside end-of-season seed stock, seconds, or slightly damaged packaging, tell us what you have and how often, and we will work around your schedule.
We are also looking for places willing to hold a donation box. That costs you a square foot of floor and nothing else.
